Ricardo Vera
Ricardo J. Vera Torres' first driving experience was in a go kart at 12 years old in Puerto Rico. In his second year racing go karts he took the season championship.
In 2008 he received an invitation from Team Costa Rica to test in a Formula 1000 car. It was his first experience in a real car. The test was so successful Italian team owner Mauritzio Facondini suggested to the Costa Rica Team Principal that Ricardo drive the Formula 2000 car. Following that test the young Puerto Rican was signed to Team Costa Rica to participate in the Latam Challenge Series. He finished the season 8th out of 36 drivers.
At 17 years old, Intersport Racing represents the perfect opportunity for Ricardo to grow as a driver with a team that have LMPC and LMP1 cars. His February test was very successful leading to his decision to sign to drive the 2011 season in the Prototype Lites Cooper Tire Championship.
Ricardo's first race with the Intersport was at Sebring taking a top 5 and a 7th place for the first two rounds. He's excited to work with the team and looking forward to improving and fighting to climb the podium in 2011.
