Intersport Racing Rolls Into Canada With Momentum On Their Side

Ricardo Vera Debuts in the No. 37 LMPC Car - Chapman Ducote Returns In The No. 89 LMPC Car

Fresh off a solid weekend at the American Le Mans Series Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock, Intersport Racing will head north of the border for the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón Mobil 1 presents the Grand Prix of Mosport.

Lime Rock saw the team grab their second LMPC podium this season. Tomy Drissi and Kyle Marcelli finessed their way to a third place finish Saturday driving the Intersport Racing No. 89 Rise of the Planet of the Apes / Muscle Milk / Lafarge /DynaPep LMPC car. The team also celebrated a podium with Ricardo Vera's third place finish in the Cooper Tires Prototype Lites race.

Ricardo Vera will join Jon Field in the No. 37 Lenco Mobile LMPC car while Kyle Marcelli will team up with Chapman Ducote in the No. 89 Merchant Services / Lafarge /DynaPep LMPC car.

"Everyone is pretty excited heading up to Canada," said team manager Brian Alder. "We're really looking forward to seeing Kyle and Chapman back together after their LMPC win in Italy. Especially since Mosport is Kyle's home track.  And Ricardo Vera behind the wheel with Jon is exactly the progress we had hope for following his LMPC test at Mid-Ohio this spring.  It just feels like we've got a lot going for us… especially with the momentum coming off our run at Lime Rock."

Ricardo Vera will also be on hand running Intersport's No. 37 Lites car in the Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Championship. Vera also enjoyed a podium finish at the Northeast Grand Prix in Lime Rock.

"Ricardo is doing a fantastic job in the Lites," added Alder. "He's a great fit for the Lites and it's the perfect grooming for a driver like Ricardo to move up in the ranks. We're happy to have him as part of Intersport's ladder system."

The Prototype Lites mission is two-fold: present an opportunity for semi-professional race car drivers to compete in a world-class environment while also providing an avenue for drivers to move up the ladder into the LMPC or LMP classes in the American Le Mans Series Presented by Tequila Patrón. The series is divided into two classes: Lites 1, featuring the Élan DP02 chassis, powered by a 2.3-liter, four-cylinder Mazda MP2 engine; and Lites 2, utilizing the West WX10 and WR1000 chassis, with either a Kawasaki ZX10R or a Suzuki GSXR motor.

The Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Championship will have two 30 minute races - on Saturday at 1:30pm and 10:30am Sunday, prior to the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón race.

The 2 hour 45 min Grand Prix of Mosport has been part of the American Le Mans Series every season since 1999. Designed and built in the late 1950s, Mosport International Raceway is a 2.459-mile (4.0 km), 10-turn road course. Unlike many historic motorsport venues, Mosport's track layout with it's sweeping turns and dramatic elevation changes has remained mostly unchanged from its original form.

Mobil 1 presents the Grand Prix of Mosport, the fourth round of the 2011 ALMS championship, is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 24 with ESPN2 airing the race starting at 10 p.m. ET. Live video coverage will be available at 2:50 p.m. ET on ESPN3.com in the US, and americanlemans.com for international viewers. Canadian fans may also watch live coverage on Rogers Sportsnet. Worldwide radio coverage will be available on American Le Mans Radio at americanlemans.com.

The American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón

The American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón is the world`s leading sports car championship and is recognized as the Global Leader in Green Racing. In the tradition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, multiple classes of cars - purpose-built prototypes and production-based Grand Touring automobiles - race on the track at the same time to create compelling race action and constant passing. All cars in the Series compete using one of five approved alternative fuels or energy sources: clean sulfur-free diesel, cellulosic E85 or E10, Isobutanol and electric hybrid technologies. The Series has more automobile marques involved than any other major race series in the world as manufacturers develop relevant technologies on track that transfer directly to the customer showroom. The ALMS competes at North America`s premier road racing tracks and selected temporary street circuits in major urban markets.
