Intersport Racing Takes Second Place LMPC Finish In Tequila Patrón American Le Mans Series at Long Beach
04.19.2011
When the dust at settled on the Tequila Patrón American Le Mans Series at Long Beach, Tomy Drissi and teammate Kyle Marcelli pushed the No. 89 Lenco Mobile / Intersport Racing / X-Men First Class / DynaPep LMPC prototype to the second spot on the podium in LMPC. Both drivers were unanimous in their praise for the team and a total team effort.
"The team did a wonderful job with our race strategy," said driver Kyle Marcelli. "It was difficult fighting for the win at the end since the No. 06 car took on new tires. We opted for a faster pit-stop just taking fuel. Regardless, the team's strategy gave us the best chance at a win."
After a spectacular drive in his opening stint, Tomy Drissi concurred with his co-driver Marcelli.
"This was a big turning point for our team," added Trans-Am Champion Tomy Drissi. "Everyone on the team pushed each other to do better all weekend. In the end, after two hours of racing against some of the best drivers in the world, we only missed the win by a margin of seconds."
"I'm real happy with the team's performance today," said team manager Brian Alder. "Tomy had a fantastic drive in the first half of the race and Kyle backed it up with a solid run in his stint. The team was focused all week long and topped it off with a flawless pit stop that sent the car back out in the lead. This was a great way to bounce back from our disappointing run at Sebring."
The American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón will take its traditional break for those teams preparing to race at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and return for Round 3, the American Le Mans Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park, on July 9. The race will be shown live and in its entirety on ESPN3.com in the United States and internationally on americanlemans.com starting at 1:05 p.m. ET. ESPN2 will provide television coverage from 1 to 3 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 10.
